L7’s Donita Sparks & Demetra Plakas letting her fingers fly at a Rock for Choice Concert at the Hollywood Palladium in 1993. The yearly benefit featured great bands like Stone Temple Pilots and Bad Religion while raising money for the cause, a woman’s right to choose. That and the RIP Magazine Party were the two biggest events of the year at the Palladium in the early 90’s.
The Queen of Chicks Who Rock…Blondie!!! Here from August 9, 1982 in Philadelphia PA at a concert at JFK Stadium. Also featured were Elvis Costello, Flock of Seagulls and local boy Robert Hazard and the Heros opening for GENESIS!!! Now that’s some diversity for you! I was a student at Temple University at the time and snuck my camera into the show. It feels like it was yesterday!
Lita Ford with Darry Strawberry at MTV’s Rock n’ Jock Softball game in 1993. Those were some fun times and it was interesting to see rock stars out of their element. In my time with MTV I photographed every Rock n’ Jock game, lots of celebrity golf and some interesting shenanigans. That stuff will have to wait for the book.
Last night at the Hollywood and Highland Center in Hollywood, Caesar’s had a promotion for their new Total Rewards Card. I have never seen anything quite like this. With TV host in 4 markets, they had some of music’s top acts play for an almost three hour commercial for their properties. Money talks and Gavin DeGraw, P Diddy and Maroon 5 all took Caesar’s cash as well as Lil Wayne and Cee Lo. It was interesting, let’s put it that way. They came to praise Caesar and not to bury him.
total shit editing but i needed to do this quickly at work! hahaha
